What personal data we collect and why we collect it
I am committed to ensuring aliciagraceturrell.com is be the very best version of itself. And I want you to hang out here and click around and stay in touch. So one kinda feeds into the other. That means that while you’re hanging out with me in this virtual apartment, I may ask you to provide me with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personal identifiable information will only include your email address (when you leave a comment or sign up to my Club aka my e-newsletter) and your name (or you can leave this out if you prefer, no big deal).
Like many site operators, I collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of my internet apartment that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics. It definitely will not include what you’re wearing, your exact location, your best time in the 100 metre relay in Year 9 or your shoe size.
I use Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyse the above paragraph. They break it down into super easy jargon for me – but I don’t receive any further info about you than I already stated. It just helps me make the whole shebang, well, better.
I use MailChimp for Club updates. I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my e-newsletter. For me. But mostly for you. I’d actually say, it’s ultimately, definitely more for you. Have a read of MailChimp’s privacy notice just so you know all the t’s and c’s right off the bat. You can unsubscribe at any time and they’ll be no hard feelings. There’s always an ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of my newsletters. Just click that and your information will be removed, forever. Or at least until you miss me enough to sign back up again.
I’m currently showing adverts on my site via Google Adsense. Again, it’s behavioural patterns from the clicks that they’ll know about. A bit like when you use Google and click on the adverts on your search page.
If you have signed up for my newsletter, I will use your email to contact you with my newsletters. I hope you like them as much as I do. And as I mentioned before, you can opt out at any time by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of my emails.
If you leave a comment the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments from you automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. It keeps everything running up to speed and we can connect, faster.
I’m more of a biscuit fan, actually, unless in America because, let’s face it, they WIN at cookies.
Cookies are also…
…files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive.
Like many sites, I use ‘cookies’ to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of my website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are pretty handy and mean that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment – keep in touch baby!
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Basically, it’s like visiting them via me. Like, I’m a taxi cab and I’ve given you a lift there. I mean, it’s not exactly like that, I am literally not a taxi cab, I am just linking to other content which is intended to enhance your entire experience in internet apartment chez moi.
Listen up guys, this is the Internet. Not quite the Wild West, but you’ve gotta remember that no method of transmission, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Just the way it is. Your security is important to me. And I will do everything in my power to keep your information safe. Any breaches of data will be informed within 48 hours via either email or a notice on this website.
